Does anyone know of a lender who offers private student loans without a co-signer?
CaliGirl asked:
I desperately need money to pay off a back balance that financial aid did not cover because I dropped a few classes. I am now in debt to my university and owe them $4500. Now I have to put my education on hold until this is paid, which will take me years. Please Help

Most private lenders have loans without co-signers but you have to have a good, stable credit history.
Also you can’t take out a student loan if you are not a current student… just so you know.
Why not work out a payment plan with the school? Even if its minimal, its better than nothing.
There are two sources for student loans — the federal government and private lenders. In order to obtain most federal student loans, you will first need to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In mostyou can combine all of your eligible federal student loans into one loan with a Federal Consolidation Loan. Consolidating also locks the interest rate you pay on your loan.
You can try or one of the other loan search sites. I think you can sort loan offerings by various criteria but I’m not sure if you can sort by co-signer, you might have to look at each offer individually or call some of the companies listed.
Make sure you look around and compare options, some companies are making a ton of money and some companies are getting out of the business. Student loans are a mess right now and if you aren’t careful you could be paying for it for a long time.
